During my internship at Niepoort in Portugal we got to taste a lot of old Port vintages – my favorite dating back to 1955.

My dad – charismatic, humble & wise. He is not a winemaker, but undoubtedly the person I admire most!

Manzini pump pipes blow up because my friend forgot to open the valve while pumping out lees.

Disappearing to the vineyards if I want to avoid people.

WHAT IS A GREAT MOMENT FOR YOU?

Sailing from Gordonsbay to Simon’s Town just before sunrise. We had dolphins swimming with us in luminescence.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM HOLIDAY?

Camping in the southern part of Africa.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE LOCAL RESTAURANT?

I don’t go out a lot – I’ll choose a family braai over any restaurant.

Coffee

Moving up as winemaker and viticulturist of Uitsig.

Momento Grenache from Marelise Niemann.

Koffie & Beskuit.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

To convince South Africans to spend more on great SA wines. In a global context, their still very affordable and available. Oh and to sell more Semillon of course..

Chardonnay and Syrah.
