Daniel holds a Master's degree in Viti-and Viniculture from Stellenbosch University. From 2009 to 2014, he worked as an assistant winemaker at Groot Constantia, before leaving to further his career in Durbanville.

In 2020, Daniel returned to Constantia, where he rediscovered his passion for working with Constantia grapes and the exceptional wines the grapes produce.

His wine philosophy focuses on getting the fundamentals right before attempting anything else. He firmly believes that winemaking is not about the making but rather the expression of terroir. For this reason, he emphasises the importance of being present during the winemaking process, as one's footsteps are the best fertiliser for any project.
